Whimsical dress form note pad cover (wax resist technique)

 hello Friends!
I have been seeing some beautiful altered chipboard dress forms lately and decided to give it a whirl! I sell the die cuts in my store, but haven't really made anything with them.
This is what I came up:

I painted the dress form using a wax resist technique.....you can see a video here http://youtu.be/v5B0UAIjnwg
Basically I took a tea lite candle and rubbed it on the edges and wherever else I wanted the brown chipboard to show through. Then, I painted it with Martha Stewart Living Metallic paint in Golden Pearl that I bought at the hardware store.
(Here's a little tip when using the metallic paints...."paint" with your finger...just rub it on. When you use a brush, the brush strokes really show with this kind of paint)

Then I just accordion folded some tulle and tied it to the form with some seam binding, added a rose and some bling. The whimsical grass is really some of my seam binding. i love the color! Then I added some butterflies and Prima pearls.
Oh! I almost forgot....the necklace is made of broken costume jewelry. It was a quick and easy project.
I plan to cut copy paper and a back cover to make a cute little notepad to sit on my counter. Thanks for taking a peek! Misty

  1. Dear Misty, I love the dress form. Very elegant. I love doing different kinds of dress forms. I just completed a swap with Life on the scrap beach and used dress forms. Again very elegant and beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing.

    Hugs,
    Janet
